Adams Falls via East Inlet Trail

A 0.3-mile walk with 79 feet of climb from the East Inlet Trailhead, at the end of West Portal Road on the east end of Grand Lake, to Adams Falls in Rocky Mountain National Park. The trail continues to Lone Pine Lake, Lake Verna and Spirit Lake.

Adams Falls is outside the town, in Rocky Mountain National Park, reached from the East Inlet Trailhead at the east end of Grand Lake. The park’s trail list puts the trailhead at 8,400 feet and Adams Falls 0.3 mile from it, with 79 feet of elevation gain; the same trail goes on to Lone Pine Lake (5.5 miles one way), Lake Verna (6.9) and Spirit Lake (7.8). To get there, the park says to follow US 34 south from the Kawuneeche Visitor Center about 1.7 miles to West Portal Road, turn left and follow it 2 miles to the trailhead at its end. The Town of Grand Lake’s East Inlet page says restrooms are at the trailhead and that the Town’s East Inlet open space beside it has the public boat ramp and parking.

A park entrance pass is required to enter any area of the park at any hour, and from May 22 to October 12, 2026 a timed-entry reservation is needed to enter between 9 am and 2 pm; the park’s timed-entry page names the East Inlet Trail among the outlying areas it covers. The phone is the park’s information office.

Distances from the park’s list of hiking trails, directions from its Lower East Inlet campsite page, entry rules from its timed-entry page and operating hours page, and restrooms from the Town’s East Inlet page, all read 10 October 2026.
